Congratulations to Rinse FM!

Today sees the culmination of over 15 years of hard work for the people who have made Rinse FM a constant force in underground music radio in London since 1994. Today they were awarded a legal radio broadcast license.

I was brought on to Rinse FM by Dugs back in 2002 and held down a Friday night show for 2 and a half years. While the equipment and the studio locations were not always the best, the one thing that was second to none was the sense of community. I met and worked with more talented people on Rinse FM than I have ever done since and now in 2010 that community has been rewarded with the right to broadcast free of fear of being shut down or prosecuted for doing nothing more than broadcasting and promoting the music they love.

The list of names that Rinse have given a platform to is far too extensive for me to list in full, but names like Dizzee Rascal, Wiley, Tinchy Stryder, Skepta and 1xtra's DJ Target all are product of the Rinse FM conveyor belt. And of course I owe my DJing career to having built up my reputation on Rinse FM as a presenter and correspondent of everything Grime.

Today not only is a culmination of a journey, but the beginning of a new one, and I look forward to seeing what DJs such as Spyro, JJ, Vectra, Maximum, Karnage, Teddy, ScoreFive, Smalls and the Butterz duo do going forward on this new bigger platform.

Congrats to everyone at Rinse FM!
